Sales Tax

Does Supergut charge sales tax on purchases?

Each US state has specific laws that require online stores — including Supergut— to collect sales tax on eligible order purchases. Requirements for charging sales tax differ from state to state, and we’re required to collect sales tax if the state you’re in mandates it, regardless of where the seller (Supergut) is located.

In which US states does Supergut currently charge sales tax?

Supergut is legally required to charge sales tax on purchases in the following states:
Arizona, California, New York, Florida, Minnesota, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington.

In the near future, we’ll also be required to charge sales tax in Nevada, with additional states likely to be included in the future.

I live in one of the above states but wasn’t charged sales tax in the past. Why am I being charged sales tax now?

There are specific requirements that need to be met before Supergut is legally obligated to charge and collect sales tax.

Each state has specific individual criteria for charging and remitting sales tax, but generally the requirements are a combination of the following: having a physical presence, reaching a predefined amount of revenue, and/or completing a predefined number of transactions. Each of these aforementioned criteria vary from state to state.

In 2021, Supergut has met one or more of the above criteria, and by law, we are legally obligated to collect and remit sales tax in the corresponding states.
